Mockingbird Violin

Project Details

In making a violin for my wife, I decided to make it different will still staying within the tradition of a violin. It is traditionally made, but with non traditional wood selection. The top is Ambrosia Maple rather than spruce. The back is made of walnut vs maple. The neck is Ambrosia maple rather than a normal hard maple. I made this violin along side one that is identical in construction and shaping with traditional material selection. It is going to be nice to compare sound with two basically identical violins. The inly in the back is an Audubon inspired bird theme. Each piece is cut, dyed and inlayed into the walnut back.
