These works deal with a reintroduction to social interactions after the last year and a half. Each of the three works in this small series expresses a container of the self.
“The outside of the outside” is inspired by the mailbox of my home. It is a set of containers at different stages of being open or closed. There is something comforting about a mailbox. It is an intimate and personal container. It is one that lives on the outside of the containers that we call home. This last year has been a struggle for many in different ways. I find myself making less eye contact and holding shorter conversations. I find fatigue and anxiety in a number of places where excitement used to reside. I have to remind myself to be open with my flag up.
